===Robot wikivandalism===
On 10th and 11th April 2007 some robots registered accounts on the wiki and started deleting content.  From now on, when you create a new account you will have to perform a simple sum to check that you are a human being (this is implemented using the [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ConfirmEdit ConfirmEdit extension]).  The robotic users have all been blocked from making further edits.  If there is further robotic wikivandalism we will introduce [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captcha visual CAPTCHA].

A request needs a very and record identifier, e.g. http://arxiv.org/oai2?verb=GetRecord&identifier=oai:arXiv.org:hep-th/9901001&metadataPrefix=oai_dc

It would be good to get a utility to harvest paper metadata (see http://www.openarchives.org/OAI/openarchivesprotocol.html )

Make an HTTP request to the repository for oai:arXiv.org:cs/0112017, which responds in XML.

Purpose

The sole purpose of this website is to be useful for people learning string theory. It has no commercial ambitions and will never host advertising.

Moderation

No moderation of content should be necessary. However, offensive comments will be removed. For example "This review of string theory doesn't mention the important topic of conformal field theory" is preferable to "This review is rubbish".

Request an account

Due to a spate of spam page creation by spam advertisers, new user account registration was suspended on 19th June 2014. Until some new safe process of user registration can be implemented, if you want to register as a user to edit pages on the String Wiki, just drop an email to Stefan. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Robot wikivandalism

On 10th and 11th April 2007 some robots registered accounts on the wiki and started deleting content. From now on, when you create a new account you will have to perform a simple sum to check that you are a human being (this is implemented using the ConfirmEdit extension). The robotic users have all been blocked from making further edits. If there is further robotic wikivandalism we will introduce visual CAPTCHA.
